Why study this course

This program is designed to develop creative design skills and knowledge of workplace practices to industry standards for effective para-professional practice in the design and decoration industry. Students will apply the principles of aesthetics, materials, function, environment and sustainability from concept to final design realisation and presentation of proposed solutions to specific client briefs. Students will investigate and experiment with three dimensional space, structural fit out, design history and contemporary style for domestic and commercial interiors, with an emphasis on the environmental aspects of design. Students will work to provide solutions for client briefs and will select an area of specialisation in the second year, when industry placement will occur.

Student review
This course is great to get you industry ready. It covers all things an interior designer would encounter, from interacting with clients and designing the flow of a space, to constructing that space and organising ff&e schedules and construction plans. You learn various CAD programs as well as technical drawings and concept development skills. The course structure is an even mix of theory and practical exercises and content focuses heavily on industry preparation. I think you really need to be passionate about interior design and about immersing yourself into the learning of the course in order to do well.
